How Can You Have Quilt Lessons At A Bible Camp?

September 2o, 2012       Since taking quilt lessons, Sophie has experienced many new opportunities and met many people who have changed her life.   On my way home from work Tuesday evening, my cell phone started ringing and it was Sharon calling from the Lake Gogebic Community Quilters, in the U.P. of Michigan.  I actually had my first quilt lessons from these ladies on how to tie a quilt and how to sew quilts.  This included sewing the top together with odds and ends of fabrics for quilting that has since been donated.  The end product was a comfort quilt put together with a lot of love for someone going through rough times. Sharon was calling to invite me to attend a quilting retreat starting on Sunday and going through Thursday of next week.  For the past four or five years some of the ladies from the Lake Gogebic Community Quilters have gotten together at a bible camp to have a quilting retreat.  It just so happened that they had an opening to fill, and wanted to know if I would be interested in joining them this year.  My first instinct was to say "No" because I didn't know what a quilting retreat was like.  Sharon started telling me about how relaxing and fun they are. We do nothing but eat, quilt, laugh, fabric shop and then eat some more...and quilt! I have become quite attached to these ladies, and had no doubt that it would be a great time. Work would be the only thing that would hold me back.  I will let Sharon know tomorrow night after I checked with work. It worked out to take the final two weeks of my vacation now.  So off to the U.P. to enjoy a retreat and the colors of fall for two wonderful weeks. That evening I went through some of the projects that I had started to accumulate.  It was a great time to work on them, if I had problems I'm sure I could get some mini quilt lessons from these awesome ladies. What have you learned through some mini quilt lessons?(we welcome comments, see "Leave a Reply" below) Visit us at QuiltAddict.com to see why Quilting is..."A Great Habit"!
