July 23, 2012 Sophie has just finished her 12 blocks for the block swap with the Lake Gogebic Community Quilters, thanks to her Quilt Lessons.
The summer is flying by with just over a week before August will be here. I had planned to take a week of vacation and go back up to the U.P. of Michigan when the block swap takes place. Instead of staying at one of the resorts this time, I decided to rent one of the private rental homes. In the back of my mind, building a cabin of my own is inching it’s way to the top of my bucket list. The peace and quiet of the area and lake are pulling me to this spot for a cabin of my own. All the plans are made for my lodging, now just waiting to hear about plans for the block swap.
When I got home from work on Tuesday, there was an e-mail from Sharon explaining the agenda of the block swap next Wednesday. Bring your completed blocks along with a pot luck item to share. The exchange of blocks will be first and then lunch to follow.
Finally Friday is here, get through work and then head north to the U.P. I had my car packed so that I could leave right from work. You could tell the weekend was here as everyone headed North is pulling boats and campers.
The drive is beautiful, but you have to keep an eye out for the deer and any other critters that may run out. I started thinking how my life has changed since taking some quilt lessons. Not all of the quilt lessons are about sewing. When the Lake Gogebic Community Quilters give of their time and hearts to make give away comfort quilts, warmth is provided to those in need. I have to admit they were the ones who truly inspired me to take quilt lessons and to really get into…”A Great Habit”!
What have you learned from quilt lessons other than just sewing? (See “Leave a Reply” below)
